Church History

"Charity Church The Church That Christ Built," had it's beginnings through the founding ministry of our pastor and his wife, Apostle Virges and Prophetess Brenda Pearson.  They were sovereignly directed by the Holy Spirit to leave their home in New Haven, Connecticut and to pastor a church in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1981.

It would prove to  be  their wilderness experience. Praise God!!! After pastoring Faith Tabernacle Deliverance Center for about two and half years, in 1994, God called them out to begin Charity Church The Church That Christ Built.   It started with a house to house fellowship and has grown into what you see today by the Grace of God.  On February 24, 1991 our church went from sharing a sanctuary to a brand new sanctuary at 431 Neville Street in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

While we have had the distinction of walking along the leading edge of the move of God, the church has remained in balance and weathered the Storm's under the Lord's steady hand.  Neither the temptation to "Stagnate and Quench the Spirit," by settling into traditionalism, nor enticement to run overboard with trendy experiences and doctrines, have been able to derail this ministry from its course.

This church is here to lift the light of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ in Fayetteville, NC, to challenge and break down the spiritual forces of Satan, and deliver his captive into the kingdom of God.  We stand for the full gospel Message that Jesus saves from sin, changes lives, heals the sick, and delivers  from bondage and demonic powers.
